You can reduce swelling in the legs during late pregnancy. . .
You can reduce swelling in the legs during late pregnancy. . .
Just by giving yourself a good soak. Researchers have discovered that sitting in shoulder-deep water for 50 minutes may do far more to decrease water retention (the cause of the swelling) than 50 minutes of bed rest with legs elevated.
And sitting in waist-high water in a bathtub seems to work at least as well as bed rest. Pressure from the water seems to force excess fluids from tissues into the blood-stream and eventually into the kidneys. Experts say that pregnant women should avoid very hot water-temperatures above 98 degree Fahrenheit.
